RIVERS RE-RUN: PDP chieftain urges INEC to conclude election

Former National Vice Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, South- South zone, Dr Cairo Ojugbo, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to conclude the re-run elections in Rivers State.

Ojugbo, who spoke in Port Harcourt at the zonal congress of the party, said that the loss of the PDP at the presidential level in the last general election has not reduced the confidence of Nigerians in the party.

Expressing the hope that the party will win the governorship election in Edo State, Ojugbo urged party members and leaders across the zone to extend a good measure of support to the new zonal officers.

“I quickly emphasise that the last election at the federal level has not diminished the confidence of the party. Let us not only reclaim what we lost but work to capture Edo State. The election in Bayelsa State was a war. We congratulate our governor in that state. In Rivers State, we call for immediate conclusion of the re-run elections so that our members can go back to their duty at the national level,” he said.
