President Muhammadu Buhari is billed to speak at the opening session of the World Anti-Corruption Summit scheduled to hold in London, United Kingdom between Wednesday and Thursday.
Other speakers include the Prime Minister of Great Britain and host of the event, Mr. David Cameron, and the President of the World Bank, Dr. Jim Yong Kim. To this end, President Buhari would depart Abuja on Tuesday to participate in the international Summit.
A statement from the Special Adviser, Mr. Femi Adesina, stated that Buhari would also appeal to the “international community to move faster on the dismantling of safe havens for the proceeds of corruption and the return of stolen funds and assets to their countries of origin”, even as seeks audience with the British prime minister on Nigeria-British collaboration against terrorism, corruption amongst others. The president is expected back on Friday.
Adesina’s statement read: “The President will also reaffirm his administration’s unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption and the Federal Government’s readiness to partner with international agencies and other countries to identify, apprehend and punish corrupt public officials”.
